A towering Czech point guard who became a European basketball pillar and his nation's on-court leader with vision and unselfish play.
Tomáš Satoranský represents the evolution of the European guard: a 6'7" playmaker whose size and court vision make him a unique orchestrator. He honed his game in his native Prague before a pivotal move to Sevilla and then FC Barcelona, where he developed into a EuroLeague star known for his poise and basketball IQ. His successful stint in the NBA with the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls proved his game translated globally, but his heart remained in European competition, leading to a celebrated return to Barcelona. As the longtime captain of the Czech national team, he engineered their greatest modern achievement, guiding them to a historic sixth-place finish at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Satoranský's legacy is that of a cerebral floor general who elevated every team he played for through selfless, intelligent basketball.
