A powerful and consistent Czech tennis player who broke up the era's dominant rivalries to reach a Wimbledon final and the world's top five.
Tomáš Berdych played tennis with the force of a cannon, his flat, clean strikes from the baseline making him one of the most dangerous and steady competitors of his generation. For over a decade, the tall Czech was a fixture in the latter stages of major tournaments, a player the 'Big Four' knew they could not overlook. His career-defining moment came at Wimbledon in 2010, where he engineered one of the tournament's great upsets, dethroning six-time champion Roger Federer in the quarterfinals before powering past Novak Djokovic to reach the final. While the title eluded him, the run announced his arrival as a legitimate grand slam threat. Berdych possessed remarkable consistency, reaching the semifinals at all four majors and spending years nestled in the world's top 10. His game, built on a formidable serve and punishing forehand, lacked the obvious flair of some peers but was devastatingly effective, earning him 13 ATP titles and the respect of the tennis world.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Tomáš was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
