From a decorated left-back to a visionary executive, he has built a career on winning championships and constructing competitive soccer organizations from the ground up.
Todd Dunivant’s narrative in American soccer is one of exceptional success, first on the pitch and then in the front office. As a player, he was the epitome of a reliable, intelligent defender, spending thirteen years in MLS and accumulating a staggering five league championships—a testament to his winning mentality and consistency. His post-playing career, however, has been even more remarkable. He immediately jumped into the challenging world of club building, first helping the short-lived San Francisco Deltas capture a title in their only season. He then took the reins at Sacramento Republic FC, transforming the USL club into a model franchise and engineering a magical 2022 U.S. Open Cup run that saw them beat multiple MLS teams to reach the final. This executive prowess earned him the sporting director role at New York City FC, marking him as one of the most respected builders in the North American game.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Todd was born in 1980, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
