As the frontman of Powerman 5000, he forged a sci-fi fueled, industrial-rock juggernaut distinct from his famous brother's horror-metal realm.
Michael Cummings, operating under the alias Spider One, carved his own path in the aggressive world of alternative metal, deliberately stepping out of the long shadow cast by his older brother, Rob Zombie. In 1991, he founded Powerman 5000 in Boston, crafting a sound that welded punk energy to industrial metal rhythms and a relentless sci-fi aesthetic. The band's breakthrough came with 1999's 'Tonight the Stars Revolt!', an album packed with crunchy anthems like 'Nobody's Real' and 'When Worlds Collide' that became staples of MTV and rock radio. Spider's vision was complete with futuristic costumes and comic-book-inspired stage shows, creating a cohesive, otherworldly package. While band lineups shifted around him, he remained the constant architect, steering PM5K through the changing tides of rock music. In a later creative turn, he wrote and directed the horror film 'Little Bites', proving his narrative drive extends beyond the mosh pit.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Spider was born in 1968, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
