A smooth-scoring basketball virtuoso whose graceful offensive arsenal powered the Minnesota Lynx dynasty and earned her three Olympic gold medals.
Seimone Augustus made basketball look effortless. Hailing from Baton Rouge, she was a high school phenomenon, the national player of the year, and a college star at LSU where her jersey now hangs from the rafters. Drafted first overall in 2006 by the struggling Minnesota Lynx, she became the cornerstone of a franchise transformation. With her signature mid-range game, silky footwork, and an uncanny ability to score from anywhere, Augustus was the offensive engine. Her leadership and clutch performances were instrumental in turning the Lynx into a powerhouse, leading them to four WNBA championships and earning Finals MVP honors in 2011. A eight-time All-Star, her elegance on the court was matched by her resilience off it, overcoming serious health challenges. After retiring as a player, she returned to LSU as a coach, aiming to impart her winning pedigree to a new generation.
