A Swedish musical architect whose songwriting and production craft fuels global pop anthems while he carves his own alternative path.
Born in 1981, Salem Al Fakir emerged from Stockholm's vibrant music scene as a multi-instrumentalist with a soulful voice and a knack for melody. His early solo work showcased a quirky, heartfelt brand of pop, but his influence exploded behind the scenes. Teaming up with Vincent Pontare as the duo Vargas & Lagola, he became a sought-after sonic architect. Their studio alchemy helped shape defining hits for Avicii, like 'Silhouettes,' and brought a Scandinavian cool to tracks for Madonna and Lady Gaga. Despite this behind-the-curtain success, Al Fakir has maintained a distinct artistic identity, releasing moody, introspective alternative pop under the Vargas & Lagola moniker, proving his depth extends far beyond the chart-topping formulas he helps create.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Salem was born in 1981, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
