A former BuzzFeed producer who turned her quirky curiosity into a massive YouTube empire, pioneering the 'mixing everything' and 'bad makeup science' genre.
Safiya Nygaard built an internet universe where curiosity is the only prerequisite. After cutting her teeth creating viral fashion and beauty content for BuzzFeed's 'LadyLike' series, she struck out on her own in 2017. Her YouTube channel quickly became a phenomenon by leaning into delightfully absurd experiments: melting all of Sephora’s lipsticks into a single franken-product, testing historically inaccurate period clothing, or brewing coffee with bizarre ingredients. This 'bad makeup science' and deep-dive historical fashion format resonated because of Nygaard’s genuine, analytical, and charmingly awkward presentation. She approaches each video with the rigor of a researcher and the wonder of a fan, transforming mundane products into epic sagas. Her success lies in creating a space where the internet's collective 'what if?' questions are answered with both humor and a surprising amount of thoughtful detail.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Safiya was born in 1992, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
