A technically sound Australian batsman whose unorthodox technique and calm demeanor made him a crisis specialist in the Test arena.
Peter Handscomb arrived on the international scene looking like a cricketer from a different era. With a deep crouch at the crease and a methodical, patient approach, he defied modern batting conventions. The Melbourne-born right-hander carved his reputation in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria, known for his ability to graft out tough runs. His Test debut in 2016 was a storybook moment: a match-saving century against Pakistan in Brisbane, followed by a series-winning knock against South Africa. Handscomb became known as a problem-solver, often walking in during turbulent situations and providing stability with his unique, bottom-hand dominant style. While his technique was later scrutinized and his place in the side became intermittent, his contributions during a pivotal period of Australian cricket, including key roles in regaining the Ashes in 2017-18, cemented his place as a memorable and effective combatant.
