A snooker champion known for his thrilling comebacks and charismatic style, whose career was tragically cut short by cancer.
Paul Hunter brought a rockstar's flair to the quiet green baize of snooker. With his long blond hair and penchant for dramatic escapes, he became a fan favorite and earned the nickname 'The Beckham of the Baize.' His legacy is defined by three unforgettable Masters titles at Wembley, each won in a final-frame decider after he trailed significantly. Hunter played with a fearless, attacking verve that made every match an event. His potential seemed limitless, but in 2005 he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors. He continued to compete with immense courage while undergoing treatment, but died in 2006 at just 27. The sport's Masters trophy was renamed in his honor, a permanent tribute to a player whose talent and spirit left a profound mark.

Paul was born in 1978, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
