A powerful and determined skater who challenged for Canadian titles in the post-Sale & Pelletier era before launching a second act in Silicon Valley.
Mira Leung burst onto the Canadian figure skating scene with a force that was impossible to ignore. In the mid-2000s, she emerged as the primary domestic challenger to Joannie Rochette, claiming three consecutive national silver medals. Her skating was defined by athletic power and big jumps, a contrast to the more artistic stylings of her peers. Leung represented Canada at the 2006 Torino Olympics, a major achievement for the then-16-year-old. While her competitive career was marked by a fierce drive, she eventually stepped away from the ice on her own terms. In a striking pivot, she channeled her discipline into academics, earning a computer science degree and now leads a team as a software engineering manager at Google, crafting a successful second chapter far from the rink.

Mira was born in 1989, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
