Mike Delany kicked 156 points for the Chiefs in the 2012 Super Rugby season, guiding them to the final. Born in 1982 in the Bay of Plenty, he developed a reliable kicking game and tactical control. He played for Bay of Plenty in the NPC before joining the Chiefs in 2009. He moved to the Crusaders in 2014, then to Clermont Auvergne in France's Top 14. He finished his Northern Hemisphere stint with Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership. He earned one non-test appearance for the All Blacks. At provincial level, he became a dependable playmaker. Delany maximized his skills through intelligence and persistence.
