A versatile French defender who anchored Manchester United's backline for nearly a decade during their most dominant era.
Mikaël Silvestre arrived at Manchester United from Inter Milan in 1999, a relatively unheralded signing who would become a fixture in Sir Alex Ferguson's trophy-laden machine. With his distinctive bleached hair and adaptable style, he slotted in seamlessly at both center-back and left-back, providing reliable steel alongside more celebrated names. His time at Old Trafford coincided with the club's relentless accumulation of silverware, including four Premier League titles and the 2008 UEFA Champions League crown. Silvestre wasn't the flashiest player, but his consistency and understanding of Ferguson's demanding system made him invaluable. After leaving United, he had spells at Arsenal, Werder Bremen, and in India before retiring. He has since moved into football administration, applying the lessons learned at the pinnacle of the club game to a new role behind the scenes.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Mikaël was born in 1977, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
