A Finnish goal-poacher whose predatory instincts in the box thrilled English fans, though injuries curtailed a once-brilliant promise.
Mikael Forssell burst onto the scene as a teenage sensation for Chelsea, a striker with ice-cool finishing and a knack for being in the right place. Born in Germany but choosing to represent Finland, his early loan move to Crystal Palace showcased his lethal potential, but it was at Birmingham City where he became a cult hero. During the 2003-04 season, on loan from Chelsea, he scored 19 goals, his blond hair and clinical touches making him a fan favorite at St. Andrew's. A serious knee injury, however, became the defining obstacle of his career, robbing him of the explosive pace that underpinned his game. He persevered, enjoying spells in Germany and back in England, and remained a reliable scorer for the Finnish national team for over a decade. Forssell's story is one of 'what could have been,' yet his intelligence and pure finishing ability left a lasting mark on every club he played for.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Mikael was born in 1981, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
