A stalwart Italian prop whose rugged career spanned two decades, anchoring scrums for club and country with relentless physicality.
Michele Rizzo's rugby was defined by the dark, unglamorous arts of the front row. The Padova native spent the bulk of his career with Petrarca, the club where he debuted and became a fixture of the Italian domestic league. His strength and scrummaging expertise earned him call-ups to the Italian national team, the Azzurri, where he faced the world's best in the Six Nations and World Cup. A late-career adventure took him to England's Premiership with Leicester Tigers, a club famed for its forward power, where he added his experience to a storied squad for four seasons. Rizzo's story is that of a classic club man whose value was measured in set-piece stability and hard yards gained in the tightest quarters of the pitch.
