The meticulous British navigator whose partnership with Markko Märtin brought Estonian rallying to the world stage, cut short by tragic accident.
Michael 'Beef' Park represented the very best of the co-driver's art: calm, precise, and utterly indispensable. A respected gravel note expert who had worked with champions like Colin McRae, his career-defining partnership began in 2000 with young Estonian driver Markko Märtin. Together, they formed a privateer duo that took on the factory teams, their Toyota Corolla a familiar sight fighting for stage wins. Park’s flawless pace notes and unflappable demeanor were the perfect foil to Märtin’s aggressive talent. Their move to Ford’s factory team brought success, including five World Rally Championship victories—the first for an Estonian driver and a British co-driver in the modern era. They were more than a crew; they were close friends, their camaraderie visible and infectious. Park’s life and promising career ended during a rally in Wales in 2005, a loss that sent shockwaves through the tight-knit rally community. He is remembered as a master of his craft and a key figure in one of rallying's most popular and competitive partnerships.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Michael was born in 1966, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
