A versatile and dependable Czech winger who carved out a long NHL career, highlighted by a Stanley Cup victory with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Michael Frolík's journey from Kladno, Czech Republic, to the NHL pinnacle is a story of consistent, two-way excellence. Drafted in the first round in 2005, he quickly established himself as a reliable scorer with the Florida Panthers. His game evolved, however, into that of a premier defensive forward and penalty killer. This transformation found its perfect home with the Chicago Blackhawks, where his speed, hockey IQ, and relentless forechecking made him an integral part of their 2013 Stanley Cup championship team. Frolík's 'Fro and Shaw' penalty-killing duo with Andrew Shaw became a fan favorite and a tactical weapon. He later provided valuable veteran presence for the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, and Buffalo Sabres, amassing over 800 NHL games and representing the Czech Republic in multiple international tournaments with distinction.
