A flamboyant and media-savvy Conservative MP whose sharp suits and sharper wit made him a recognizable figure in British politics for over three decades.
Michael Fabricant served as the Conservative MP for Lichfield for 32 years, from 1992 until his electoral defeat in 2024. A shock of bright blond hair and a fondness for colorful waistcoats made his parliamentary presence immediately recognizable. He combined traditional Tory positions with early adoption of online communication, earning a reputation as a 'blogging MP' before social media was common. His career included roles as a party vice-chairman and a stint on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee. Though never a cabinet minister, Fabricant became a familiar pundit and commentator, frequently appearing to offer loyalist defenses of his party leaders. He also deployed a mischievous sense of humor that distinguished him from more staid colleagues. His long parliamentary run closed a chapter on one of Parliament's more vivid personalities.

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Michael was born in 1950, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
