A masterful Lebanese composer and singer whose poignant melodies and poetic lyrics have defined a generation of Arab pop music.
Marwan Khoury is the quiet architect behind some of the Arab world's most enduring modern love songs. While he possesses a distinctive, warm baritone of his own, his primary impact has come from his pen and his piano. Emerging in the 1990s, Khoury distinguished himself with a sophisticated musicality and a gift for lyrics that balanced deep romantic yearning with elegant, literary phrasing. He became the go-to composer for a constellation of major stars, crafting signature hits for Majida El Roumi, Najwa Karam, Elissa, and Assala Nasri, among others. His compositions often feature rich, orchestral arrangements and memorable hooks that feel both contemporary and timeless. Khoury's own albums, while less frequent, are critically cherished, offering a more intimate window into his artistry. For decades, he has operated not as a flashy celebrity, but as a respected craftsman whose work forms the emotional backbone of modern Arabic pop.
