A Brazilian driver who competed at the peak of international open-wheel racing, narrowly missing a Formula One seat.
Mário Haberfeld's racing journey took him from the karting tracks of São Paulo to the cusp of Formula One. Showing promise early, he moved to Europe to climb the traditional single-seater ladder. He found significant success in British Formula 3, finishing as vice-champion in 1998, which paved the way for a test driver role with the Arrows Formula One team. The ultimate F1 race seat, however, remained elusive. Instead, Haberfeld became a stalwart in the burgeoning Champ Car World Series in the United States. Driving for the underfunded Mi-Jack Conquest Racing team from 2003 to 2005, he was known for extracting solid performances from his equipment, scoring points finishes and earning respect for his consistency. After the unification of American open-wheel racing, he competed briefly in the IndyCar Series before retiring from professional driving. Post-racing, he has remained deeply involved in the sport through driver management and running a successful corporate driving experience business in Brazil.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Mário was born in 1976, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
