A German speed and power specialist who mastered the rare and demanding double of elite sprinting and world-class long jumping.
In a track and field world of increasing specialization, Lucas Jakubczyk became a fascinating throwback—an athlete who refused to choose between pure speed and explosive flight. The German competitor forged a unique path by excelling simultaneously in the 100-meter dash and the long jump, a combination rarely seen at the international level since the days of Carl Lewis. His sprinting prowess was undeniable, with a personal best of 10.07 seconds making him one of Germany's fastest men. Yet, he could seamlessly transition to the runway, achieving a long jump best of 8.16 meters. This dual-threat capability made him a valuable and versatile asset for the German national team in relay events and individual competitions, embodying the classic ideal of the complete track athlete.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Lucas was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.

He is one of the very few athletes in the 21st century to have surpassed both 8.15 meters in the long jump and 10.10 seconds in the 100m.
Jakubczyk trained with the sports club SCC Berlin for much of his career.
His athletic versatility is often compared to that of the earlier German champion, Lutz Dombrowski, who also combined sprinting and jumping.
“Why choose between the sprint and the jump? I train to master both.”
