A cornerstone of K-pop's second generation, evolving from a shy dancer into a respected singer-songwriter and savvy label co-founder.
Lee Donghae's story is one of quiet persistence within the whirlwind of Super Junior, one of K-pop's most enduring groups. Winning an SM Entertainment contest in 2001 launched a four-year training grind before his 2005 debut. Initially known as a powerful dancer and the group's visual, he gradually carved out a deeper space as a musician. He became a prolific songwriter for Super Junior and its sub-units, most notably the duo Super Junior-D&E with Eunhyuk, penning tracks that often revealed a sentimental, melodic side. In 2023, after nearly two decades under SM, he took a bold step by leaving to co-found his own label, ODE.ent. This move, while maintaining his place in Super Junior, signaled a mature artist claiming ownership of his creative and professional future, transitioning from company idol to industry entrepreneur.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Lee was born in 1986, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
