An English football architect who crossed the Atlantic to build an attacking dynasty in Seattle, reshaping the tactical landscape of the American women's game.
Laura Harvey traded the midfield for the whiteboard, and in doing so, became one of the most influential coaches in the National Women's Soccer League. Her playing career in England was solid but unspectacular; her true genius was revealed in management. After cutting her teeth in the English academy system, she took a bold leap to the nascent NWSL in 2013 to helm the Seattle Reign. There, she installed a fluid, possession-based philosophy that was both aesthetically dazzling and brutally effective. Under her guidance, Seattle became a perennial powerhouse, winning two NWSL Shields and reaching three championship finals. Harvey's teams were defined by their collective intelligence and offensive verve, turning players like Kim Little and Jess Fishlock into superstars. Her success proved that sophisticated European coaching principles could not only translate to the American league but could dominate it, raising the tactical bar for everyone.

Laura was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.

“I want my teams to play football that's exciting, that's attractive, and that wins games. I don't think those things are mutually exclusive.”
