A Bulgarian-Russian vocalist with a soulful, atmospheric sound who became a Eurovision sensation and broke barriers for Eastern European pop.
Kristian Kostov's voice seems to carry the cool, atmospheric weight of his dual heritage. Born in Moscow to a Bulgarian father and Kazakh-Russian mother, he grew up between cultures, a fluidity reflected in his music. His rise was swift and televised: a finalist on The Voice Kids Russia, then a runner-up on X Factor Bulgaria. But it was the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 that launched him onto a global stage. Representing Bulgaria with the haunting 'Beautiful Mess,' at just 17 years old, he delivered a performance of startling maturity, finishing a close second and introducing a sleek, contemporary Balkan pop sound to millions. Since then, Kostov has shed the teen prodigy label, crafting moody, introspective pop and R&B that explores themes of identity and connection, establishing himself as a serious artist with a dedicated international following.

Kristian was born in 2000, placing them squarely in the Generation Z. The events that shaped this generation — social media, climate anxiety, and a pandemic — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
