A Brazilian guitar virtuoso who fused samba and bossa nova rhythms with blistering heavy metal, later joining one of thrash's biggest bands.
Kiko Loureiro co-founded Angra in São Paulo, blending neo-classical metal with samba rhythms and bossa nova harmonies. His precise technique and melodic sensibility made him a guitar hero in progressive and metal circles worldwide. Born in 1972, he built a successful solo and collaborative career over decades. In 2015, he became the lead guitarist for Megadeth, bringing his sophisticated Brazilian-influenced style to the band's thrash metal foundation. His work rewired heavy metal's circuitry by weaving complex Brazilian rhythms into aggressive music, creating a distinctive voice that extended beyond typical genre boundaries.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Kiko was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
