A visionary musician who shattered boy band conventions by founding the internet-born, self-proclaimed 'boyband' Brockhampton, reshaping hip-hop's creative process.
Clifford Ian Simpson, known as Kevin Abstract, emerged from the online forums of the 2010s to become a defining architect of a new musical collective. Frustrated by the traditional industry, he famously posted a call on a Kanye West fan forum seeking collaborators, which sparked the formation of Brockhampton. This group, which he founded and led, billed itself as an 'all-American boyband' but operated more like a hip-hop art collective, producing a frenetic series of albums that blended rap, pop, and raw confessionals. Abstract’s own solo work, like 'American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story,' openly explored his experiences as a gay man growing up in the suburbs, offering a narrative rarely centered in hip-hop. After Brockhampton's dissolution, he continued to evolve, releasing the guitar-driven 'Blanket,' proving his restlessness as an artist is his defining trait.

Kevin was born in 1996, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
