A North Carolina textile magnate who brought his business acumen to public service as the state's Secretary of Commerce.
Keith Crisco's story was one of building—first a business, then a community, and finally a career in government. A North Carolina native with an MBA from Harvard, he co-founded Asheboro Elastics Corporation, turning it into a major employer and a global supplier. This deep understanding of manufacturing and job creation led him naturally into public service. Appointed as North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce in 2008 by Governor Mike Easley, he navigated the state's economy through the aftermath of the Great Recession, focusing on retaining and attracting industry. His approach was pragmatic and data-driven, a reflection of his corporate background. Crisco's later foray into electoral politics was cut tragically short, but he is remembered as a bridge between the boardroom and the statehouse, dedicated to economic development in his home state.

Keith was born in 1943, placing them squarely in The Silent Generation. The events that shaped this generation — world wars, depression, and rapid industrialization — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
