A former Disney Channel star who traded Hollywood scripts for animal enrichment charts, finding her true calling as a zookeeper.
Kay Panabaker's childhood was split between two distinct worlds: the bright lights of a soundstage and the quiet focus of a student. While appearing in popular Disney Channel shows and films like 'Phil of the Future' and 'Read It and Weep,' she was also excelling academically, graduating high school at 13 and college at 17. The pull of the entertainment industry waned as her passion for zoology grew. After a few more acting roles, she made a decisive and deliberate career shift, stepping away from acting entirely to pursue hands-on work with animals. She earned a degree in zoology and began working at Disney's Animal Kingdom, a fitting full-circle move that connected her to the company in a new, more authentic way. Now a senior zookeeper, she specializes in animal behavior and enrichment, dedicating her days not to memorizing lines, but to understanding and caring for the creatures she loves, finding a profound satisfaction far from the glare of the camera.

Kay was born in 1990, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
