A multi-hyphenate Canadian actor and filmmaker who captured a dedicated fanbase as the heroic Sheriff Nicole Haught on Wynonna Earp.
Katherine Barrell is far more than the beloved lawman she played on television. The Toronto-born creative built her career from the ground up, starting with indie film roles and guest spots before landing the defining part of Sheriff Nicole Haught on Syfy's Wynonna Earp. Her portrayal—grounded, compassionate, and fiercely loyal—resonated deeply, especially within the LGBTQ+ community, for its authentic representation. But Barrell's ambitions stretched beyond acting. She co-founded the production company Soapbox Productions, stepping behind the camera to write, direct, and produce. Projects like the film 'Anything for Jackson' and the series 'The Spencer Sisters' showcase her narrative drive and technical skill. Barrell represents a new generation of Canadian storytellers who actively shape their opportunities, moving seamlessly between genre television and personal filmmaking with equal parts passion and purpose.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Katherine was born in 1990, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
