The former Calvin Klein model who became the fiery, loyal heart of Seattle Grace for 16 seasons as Dr. Alex Karev.
Justin Chambers' path to acting was anything but conventional. Discovered as a model in Paris, his face became synonymous with 1990s glamour, fronting campaigns for Calvin Klein and Armani. But he traded the runway for the stage, studying at New York's HB Studio. After small roles in film and soap operas, he landed the part of surgical resident Alex Karev on 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2005. Initially arrogant and abrasive, Karev was the show's designated jerk, but Chambers, over 16 seasons, masterfully unraveled the character's tough exterior to reveal a deeply wounded, fiercely protective man. His evolution from bully to beloved head of pediatric surgery was one of television's most satisfying character arcs. Chambers left the series abruptly in 2020, with Karev's controversial off-screen departure leaving a permanent mark on the show's legacy. Since then, he has largely stepped back from the public eye, focusing on family and personal pursuits.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Justin was born in 1970, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
