A right-handed reliever whose baseball journey took him from the Dominican Republic to the major league mound and then across the globe to South Korea.
Julio DePaula's path in professional baseball was one of resilience and adaptation. Signed as an international free agent by the Minnesota Twins, he spent years honing his craft in the minor leagues before finally getting his call to The Show in 2007. His major league tenure was brief but significant—a realization of a lifelong dream. DePaula was a classic bullpen arm, relying on a sinker and slider to induce ground balls. When his MLB opportunities narrowed, he reinvented his career overseas, signing with the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Baseball Organization. This move showcased the global nature of the sport and the determination of players to extend their careers at the highest levels possible, contributing his experience to a different baseball culture.
