An ice dancer who, representing Azerbaijan, carved out a place for her adopted nation on the elite European and Olympic stage.
Julia Zlobina's path in ice dancing was a story of partnership and perseverance under a new flag. Born in Russia, she teamed up with Alexei Sitnikov to compete for Azerbaijan, a nation with little prior footprint in the sport. Their career was a mission to build a program from the ground up, training in Moscow while carrying the Azerbaijani colors. They quickly made their mark, claiming medals at prestigious B-tier events like the Nebelhorn Trophy and the Winter Universiade. Their crisp, dramatic performances earned them a spot at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, where they finished a respectable 12th, and a high of sixth at the European Championships. Zlobina and Sitnikov didn't just compete; they established a standard of excellence for Azerbaijani figure skating, proving a new federation could dance with the best.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Julia was born in 1989, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
