The witty, bilingual heart of Australian music television who turned a pub trivia show into a national celebration of rock and roll.
Julia Zemiro hosted 159 episodes of SBS's RocKwiz, a live music quiz filmed in a St Kilda pub. Born in France and fluent in English and French, she brought cosmopolitan charm and genuine musical passion to the format. For over a decade, she acted as fan, provocateur, and gracious interviewer, coaxing stories from international acts and local heroes alike. Her chemistry with co-host Brian Nankervis and the house band created a warm, inclusive atmosphere. Beyond RocKwiz, she hosted Eurovision coverage with signature flair and acted in comedy. She made music knowledge feel like the most fun available on a Saturday night.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Julia was born in 1967, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
