A blisteringly fast Springbok wing whose try-scoring prowess and defensive steel were central to South Africa's rugby triumphs in the late 2000s.
JP Pietersen scored a decisive try against England during the 2007 Rugby World Cup pool stages, helping South Africa win the tournament. Born in 1986, he debuted for the Springboks in 2006. The tall, powerful wing combined defensive work rate with attacking flair. He formed a strong right-wing partnership for the Sharks in Super Rugby and for South Africa, breaking tackles and kicking tactically. Pietersen earned 69 test caps across a competitive era. His career centered on the Sharks. Retirement closed a chapter for a player who embodied the hard-edged, successful Springbok style of his generation.

JP was born in 1986, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
