He didn't just voice Disney's most sinister vizier; he brought Jafar to life on stage, owning the role for decades.
Jonathan Freeman has a voice that drips with malevolent, silken ambition, instantly recognizable to generations as Jafar in Disney's 'Aladdin.' What began as a voice acting role in 1992 became a defining, multi-decade partnership. Freeman didn't just provide the sinister baritone for the animated film and its sequels; he physically embodied the character, first in the Disney theme park stage show 'Voyage of the Little Mermaid' and then, most remarkably, on Broadway. He originated the role of Jafar in the hit stage musical adaptation in 2014, becoming the only actor to both voice the animated villain and portray him live for major audiences. His career extends beyond Agrabah, with a long history in New York theater as an actor and puppeteer, but his legacy is inextricably tied to giving one of Disney's great villains his enduring, haughty menace.

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Jonathan was born in 1950, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
