A grime purist and DIY entrepreneur who built a powerhouse label from the streets of Tottenham without ever compromising his sound.
Jme operates by his own rulebook. Emerging from the raw pirate radio sets of North London in the early 2000s, he, alongside his brother Skepta, became an architect of grime's second wind. His style is technical, witty, and unapologetically nerdy, referencing video games and his own staunch veganism as often as street life. While others chased pop crossover, Jme doubled down on independence, co-founding the Boy Better Know collective and label. He turned it into a self-sustaining empire, selling his own music directly to fans, designing merchandise, and hosting legendary block parties. His album 'Integrity>' is a manifesto for this ethos, a critically adored work that proved artistic control and commercial success in grime weren't mutually exclusive. He remains a respected elder statesman, revered for his technical skill and uncompromising business acumen.
1981–1996
The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Jme was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
