A tenacious British middle-distance runner who consistently battled the world's best to claim major championship medals on the global stage.
For over a decade, Jenny Meadows was the gritty heart of British 800-meter running. Her career was a masterclass in persistence, defined not by a single flash of glory but by a sustained presence among the global elite. Emerging from Wigan, Meadows honed her speed with early 400-meter races before finding her perfect distance. She operated in an era of extraordinary depth in women's 800m running, yet repeatedly forced her way onto podiums. Her bronze at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin was a breakthrough, proving she could medal against the strongest fields. Meadows followed it with indoor world silver and outdoor European silver, showcasing her versatility across seasons. Perhaps her sweetest victory came at the 2011 European Indoor Championships, where she seized gold in front of a home crowd in Paris. Her career was also marked by resilience, overcoming significant injuries and controversial non-selections for Olympic teams, fighting her way back each time to compete at the highest level.

Jenny was born in 1981, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
