A skateboarder turned actor who brought a laid-back, sarcastic charm to cult film roles and a network TV comedy about karma.
Jason Lee's path to Hollywood was anything but conventional, first gaining recognition as a professional skateboarder known for his technical skill and signature ollie. His friendship with filmmaker Kevin Smith launched his acting career, leading to a string of memorable roles in 1990s indie films like 'Mallrats' and 'Chasing Amy,' where his skate-punk authenticity resonated with audiences. Lee successfully pivoted to television, creating and starring in 'My Name Is Earl,' a show about a petty criminal seeking redemption that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Beyond acting, he is an accomplished photographer and, in a full-circle move, returned to the skate industry as co-owner of Stereo Skateboards, maintaining his deep ties to the culture that shaped him.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Jason was born in 1970, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
