A Welsh rugby centurion whose formidable physicality and intellect in the midfield defined a golden era for his national team.
Jamie Roberts became the archetypal modern rugby centre: a 6'4", 240-pound crash ball specialist with a medical degree. His career was a compelling blend of brute force and sharp intellect. Bursting onto the scene with Cardiff Blues, his powerful runs and defensive solidity quickly made him indispensable for Wales. He was a central figure in the 2008 and 2012 Grand Slam-winning teams, earning Player of the Tournament honours in the latter. Roberts also became a British & Irish Lion, starting all three Tests on the 2009 tour to South Africa and playing again in 2013. While dominating defences for Wales, Harlequins, and Racing 92, he simultaneously pursued medicine, qualifying as a doctor in 2021. This duality—the relentless athlete and the dedicated student—cemented his reputation as one of rugby's most unique and respected personalities.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Jamie was born in 1986, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
