A versatile Polish defender whose composed performances for club and country have made him a vital modern defensive piece.
Jakub Kiwior's path to the upper echelons of European football was not a straight line. Born in 2000, he left Poland's Górnik Zabrze academy as a youth, taking a chance on development in Belgium and the Netherlands. His breakthrough came in Slovakia with MSK Žilina, where his technical skill and defensive intelligence as a left-footed center-back attracted wider attention. A move to Italian giants Spezia Calcio showcased his adaptability in Serie A, leading to a transfer to Premier League side Arsenal in 2023. Kiwior, who can also operate as a full-back or defensive midfielder, has become a key figure for the Polish national team, valued for his calmness under pressure and precise passing from the back.
