A sharp-witted singer and songwriter who helped steer Little Mix to global superstardom as the group's foundational vocal anchor and advocate.
Jade Thirlwall from South Shields is far more than a pop star; she is a defining voice in a generation's biggest girl group. After several early attempts on *The X Factor*, she was put together with three other solo contestants in 2011 to form what became Little Mix. Thirlwall quickly established herself as the group's steady, soulful vocal core and a key songwriter, co-penning hits like 'Wings' and 'Salute.' Her perspective as a mixed-race woman from a working-class background in the North East of England became integral to the group's identity. She openly discussed her struggles with anxiety and an eating disorder, and alongside her bandmates, became a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, feminism, and racial equality, using their platform with purposeful clarity. After Little Mix's historic Brit Award win and subsequent hiatus, Thirlwall launched a solo venture, exploring a more synth-pop and R&B-inflected sound. With a keen business mind, she also co-owns a cocktail bar in her hometown, reflecting her deep connection to her roots and her savvy beyond the stage.
