A hulking Canadian centre who traded the college ice for the NHL, using his size and skill to carve out a professional role.
Jack McBain's path to the NHL was a deliberate climb, not a sudden sprint. A dominant force in Ontario junior hockey, he opted for the NCAA route, committing to Boston College. For three seasons, he honed his game against older, stronger competition, developing the blend of size, soft hands, and a mean streak that defines his style. After his junior year, he felt ready. He signed with the Minnesota Wild, the team that drafted him, and immediately brought a noticeable physical edge to their AHL affiliate. His persistence paid off with a trade to the Arizona Coyotes (later Utah), where he finally secured a full-time NHL roster spot, using his 6'4" frame to win battles in the corners and become a reliable bottom-six presence.
1997–2012
Born into smartphones, social media, and school shootings. The most diverse generation in history. Pragmatic about money, fluid about identity, anxious about the climate. They do not remember a world before the internet.
Jack was born in 2000, placing them squarely in the Generation Z. The events that shaped this generation — social media, climate anxiety, and a pandemic — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.

“The college route was about getting stronger, smarter, and ready for when my number was called.”
