The heart and soul of Athletic Bilbao for over a decade, a technically gifted winger whose loyalty and creativity defined an era at his one-club home.
Iker Muniain's story is one of rare fidelity in modern football. Nicknamed 'Bart' after the cartoon character for his youthful looks and mischievous energy, he was a child prodigy at Athletic Bilbao, a club with a unique policy of signing only Basque players. He debuted for the first team at 16, becoming the youngest player to ever appear in La Liga for the club—a record that stood for years. Muniain wasn't just a novelty; he matured into the creative engine of the team, a slippery winger or attacking midfielder with exquisite close control and vision. Under manager Marcelo Bielsa, he flourished as part of a thrilling side that reached two major finals in 2012. While serious knee injuries robbed him of some peak years, his resilience and quality never dimmed. He eventually captained the side, embodying the club's identity and connecting the fans to the pitch like few others could, culminating in a poignant Copa del Rey victory in 2024 that served as a perfect farewell before his retirement.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Iker was born in 1992, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
