A Portuguese striker whose dramatic, last-gasp header became an immortal moment in his nation's 2004 European Championship run.
Hélder Postiga's career is a study in clutch moments overshadowing club journeyman status. A product of Porto's academy, he never quite settled as a consistent starter at any top club, playing for teams in England, Spain, Greece, and India. Yet, for the Portuguese national team, he possessed a knack for the spectacular. His most famous goal came in the semi-final of Euro 2004 on home soil, a stunning back-header in the final minutes against England that sent the game to extra time. Though Portugal lost the final, that goal cemented his place in national lore. He later scored in a penalty shootout against Spain at Euro 2012. Postiga's international record—a goal every other game—far outstripped his club output, defining him as a player who saved his very best for the searing pressure of the national shirt.

Hélder was born in 1982, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
