A progressive political force from Maryland who champions healthcare and rural economic justice with grassroots energy.
Heather Mizeur's political journey is a story of personal conviction meeting pragmatic activism. After cutting her teeth as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill and a public policy advocate, she entered the Maryland House of Delegates in 2007, quickly standing out for her focus on healthcare access, environmental issues, and LGBTQ+ rights. Her 2014 gubernatorial campaign, though unsuccessful in the primary, was notable for its grassroots, small-donor model and detailed policy platforms. Mizeur then stepped back from electoral politics, operating an organic farm on the Eastern Shore with her wife, an experience that deepened her connection to rural communities. This led to a surprising 2022 congressional run in a conservative district, where she significantly outperformed historical Democratic results by focusing on kitchen-table economics. Her career reflects a consistent thread: applying a blend of idealism and on-the-ground experience to bridge urban and rural divides.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Heather was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
