A Scottish swimmer whose relentless dedication in the grueling individual medley made her a pillar of British swimming across three Olympic cycles.
Hannah Miley's story is one of homemade determination. Growing up in rural Scotland, her training ground was a 25-meter pool built by her father in a barn on their farm—a testament to the family's commitment. Specializing in the demanding individual medley, a test of all four strokes, Miley forged a career through sheer work ethic. She was not just a participant but a constant finalist on the biggest stages, finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth in the 400m IM at three consecutive Olympic Games, each time agonizingly close to the podium. Her career was decorated with European and Commonwealth gold, and a world short-course title, proving her excellence over a long period. Miley's legacy is that of an athlete who maximized every ounce of her talent through a unique, unwavering routine, inspiring a generation with her resilience.
