A Roman-born goalkeeper whose career was a journey of resilience, spanning Serie A stalwart to unexpected Scandinavian chapters in search of playing time.
Gianluca Curci's story is a classic footballing tale of promise, pressure, and perseverance. A product of AS Roma's esteemed youth academy, the Roman goalkeeper made his senior debut for his boyhood club in 2004, stepping into the immense shadow of the legendary Francesco Toldo. Standing at an imposing 6'5", Curci possessed the physical tools and shot-stopping ability to suggest a long future at the top. His path, however, led him on a tour of Serie A, with spells at Siena, Sampdoria, and Bologna where he amassed over 200 top-flight appearances, often as a reliable first-choice. In search of consistent minutes later in his career, he embarked on adventures abroad with Mainz 05 in Germany and, more surprisingly, in Sweden with AFC Eskilstuna and Hammarby IF. These moves illustrated a dedication to his craft that transcended the glamour of Italy's top division, defining him as a footballer willing to go anywhere to play the game.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Gianluca was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
