A cerebral and relentless linebacker whose on-field intelligence and tackling prowess made him the defensive anchor for a decade in Minnesota.
Eric Kendricks grew up in Fresno, California, part of a football family where his older brother Mychal also reached the NFL. At UCLA, he transformed from a somewhat undersized recruit into a defensive force, leading the nation in tackles and capturing the Butkus Award as the country's top linebacker in 2014. Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, he quickly became the heart of their defense, a player whose pre-snap recognition and ability to diagnose plays were as valuable as his hard hits. For eight seasons, he was the consistent, vocal leader in the middle of the field, earning a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2019. After a stint with the Los Angeles Chargers and a brief period in Dallas, he joined the San Francisco 49ers, bringing his veteran savvy to a championship contender. His career is a testament to how film study and football IQ can elevate physical talent to an elite level.
