A blisteringly fast Dutch winger whose dazzling runs lit up the Eredivisie and powered his national team to a World Cup final.
Eljero Elia's football was pure, exhilarating speed. The left-winger exploded onto the scene at ADO Den Haag and Ajax, his direct style and explosive acceleration making him one of the most thrilling talents in the Netherlands. A key part of the FC Twente side that won their first-ever Eredivisie title in 2010, his form earned him a high-profile move to Juventus and later the German Bundesliga. On the international stage, Elia was a potent weapon off the bench for the Dutch national team during their memorable run to the 2010 FIFA World Cup final in South Africa. While his club career later took him to places like Southampton and Istanbul Basaksehir, he is best remembered for those electrifying moments when he received the ball, dropped a shoulder, and simply left defenders in his wake.

Eljero was born in 1987, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
