A physically gifted center whose NBA journey, from high school phenom to champion, was a turbulent ride through the league's highs and lows.
Eddy Curry entered the basketball world as a can't-miss prospect, a massive 7-foot center with soft hands and a nimble touch around the basket. Drafted fourth overall by the Chicago Bulls straight out of high school in 2001, he was tasked with helping rebuild the post-Jordan era. For years, he showed flashes of dominant low-post scoring, but his career became a saga of unfulfilled potential and off-court challenges. A serious heart condition scare in 2005 led to a controversial trade to the New York Knicks. In New York, his production was uneven, and he became entangled in the team's front-office turmoil. Yet, Curry's story has a redemptive chapter. After being out of the league, he signed with the Miami Heat in 2011, contributing as a role player and earning an NBA championship ring in 2012—a poignant reward for a career that never matched its initial hype but found a moment of glory.

Eddy was born in 1982, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
