The sonic architect behind Epik High, whose production crafted the melancholic, genre-blending sound that defined Korean hip-hop's artistic ascent.
As the DJ and primary producer for Epik High, DJ Tukutz was the unseen hand shaping the group's atmospheric and emotionally complex music. While Tablo's lyrics and Mithra Jin's verses captured attention, Tukutz built the soundscapes—layering classical samples, hip-hop beats, and electronic textures into something wholly unique. His work on albums like 'Swan Songs' and 'Remapping the Human Soul' provided the cinematic backdrop for the group's explorations of alienation, love, and social commentary. In a music scene often driven by idol pop, Tukutz's production helped legitimize hip-hop as a serious artistic medium in South Korea. His role was less about turntable pyrotechnics and more about being a meticulous composer, constructing the very world Epik High's narratives inhabited.
